Why We Started 7Greetings

Our Story

A simple idea born from a simple feeling.

Our team on location

It started with a missed birthday. Someone close to you, miles away, and your greeting arrived late — a text, a voice note, maybe a templated e-card. It was fine. But it didn't feel like enough. You wished you could have been there. You wished your message had weight. You wished it felt real.

That's the gap we kept noticing. Distance makes it hard to show people you care. A phone call is quick. A video call requires planning. A physical card takes days. And something always feels like it's missing — the warmth, the surprise, the sense that someone actually thought about you.

We wondered: what if the greeting came from somewhere interesting? Not a studio. Not a template. What if a real person, in a real place, delivered your message in person — with their own voice, in their own surroundings, with genuine care?

"A greeting should feel like someone showed up — even if they couldn't."

That question became the foundation. But the answer came from a trip to Africa.

Our founder Jason Yang was travelling through Zambia and Malawi when he encountered something he couldn't stop thinking about. The people he met were some of the most energetic, warm, and expressive he'd ever seen — dancing, laughing, full of life. And yet many of them didn't know where their next meal was coming from.

That contrast stayed with him: all that joy, quietly shadowed by hunger. He wanted to do something about it — not through charity, but through something that gave people a real way to earn and a real reason to share their spirit with the world.

So he combined both ideas: a product people genuinely wanted — a personalised greeting video — and a model that put local communities at the centre. 7Greetings was born.

Starting with teams in Zambia and Malawi, the platform has since grown to include filming crews across eight countries. Each team is local. Each location is real. When you place an order, your message is filmed on location by people who live there — and delivered to your inbox, ready to share.

The result is something you can actually send. A video that plays like a small, thoughtful gift — not a mass-produced card, but a real moment, captured for someone specific. Birthday greetings from Zambia. Anniversary wishes from Egypt. Holiday surprises from the Sahara Desert. Each one is different. Each one feels personal.

And here's something else we care about: the majority of every order goes directly back to the local teams — used to purchase food and daily essentials for them and their communities. It's not a donation. It's an exchange. You get something real and meaningful. They get something they genuinely need.

So when you send a 7Greetings video, you're not just delivering a message. You're making it possible for someone to earn a living by doing something genuinely meaningful — connecting people across borders, one greeting at a time.

We're not a charity. We're a platform that believes good business and real impact don't have to be separate things.

Behind the scenes
More Than a Message

Every video order supports our local filming teams and their communities around the world.

When you send joy, you also give back. 🌍
